Anzac Day service

We proudly hold an annual service at school in remembrance of Anzac Day, in addition to students participating in the local community march during the holidays and captains laying a wreath at the Anzac memorial.

Centaur Day commemoration

Our school is a living memorial to those who served on the ill-fated World War 2 hospital ship, the AHS Centaur, which gave the school its name and that sank on 14 May 1943.

We hold an annual commemorative service with our community and special guests.

Sport

School sports including a twilight swimming carnival, junior and senior athletics and cross country, as well as gala days involving other local schools form a big part of school life at Centaur.

NAIDOC

Each year in July during NAIDOC week students participate in a host of activities and games to enrich their knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.

Excursions

Excursions are held year round and are generally organised by school year or stage group. Students get to visit various local venues, including beaches, museums or culturally significant sites as part of particular units of work.

Multicultural day

Multicultural day is a highlight each year in Term 3 for all students. Celebrating the diverse cultures and food of the world, we come together for a parade of costumes ond a multicultural food fair.

Dance Festival

Stage 1, 2 and 3 dance troupes get to perform on the big stage as part of the Far North Coast Dance Festival.
